Description

Gianna Villa is a stone built villa, located in the most traditional and wild area of Chania Prefecture. The view of the majestic White Mountains – Lefka Ori in greek - is breathtaking. At sunset, while the sun drops behind the mountains, the sky is painted red and the colors of the beautiful landscape are fading. The area is ideal for relaxation as you won't hear any of the sounds of the city. Moreover the spot is a perfect starting point for excursions as the villa is situated near the road that leads to Imbros Gorge and Sfakia area, near Georgioupolis with the long sandy beach and in the middle of the Chania – Rethymno distance.

The villa is built on a 15000sq.m. field. The private property is covered with lawn, flowers, a small vineyard, fruit trees and a melon field. The guests of the villa can consume any product of the field they like. The private pool is 40sq.m. and has a wonderful view, as every part of the garden. Next to the pool there is a shady area for those who cannot stand the heat and the sun of the Cretan summer. A barbecue and a traditional stone oven are found outside the villa, next to the vineyard. Garden furniture is found in many places of the garden. A small chapel completes the idyllic atmosphere.

Gianna Villa is built on two floors. At the ground floor there are a cozy area – consists of a sitting area, a dining area and an open plan kitchen – a double bedroom and a bathroom. Three more bedrooms, one with double bed and two with twin beds, are found on the first floor. On this floor there are also two bathrooms, one common and one ensuite to the double bedroom. The double and one of the twin bedrooms have French doors leading to a west balcony with mountain view. The east balcony of this floor has sea view.

Gianna Villa has Superb 360 degree views we enjoyed watching the sunset and got up one morning to catch the sunrise. A very peaceful setting. Lovely large pool which certainly was required . Various lounging/seating areas in and out of the sun. The overhang at the front of the house with large marble table was one of our favourite places to sit. We seen 4 eagles on 2 separate occasions. Our favourite taverna was Kostas in Maza, it is a must to experience the hospitality and freshly prepared food. Another taverna well worth a visit is in Nipos.

Kitchen is very well equipped, excellent large BBQ. Sifis the owner kindly supplied a welcome pack containing homemade wine, marmalade, olive oil, olive soap, various herbs and vegetables from his vegetable plot at the villa all very much enjoyed and appreciated. The villa is extremely well kept during your stay, linen and towel change every 3 - 4 days.

This was our first visit to Crete and will definitely be returning, when we do it will be to Gianna Villa.
  • Loved our stay!

    Period of Stay: Jun 2016
Arrived much delayed and were greeted in middle of night by smiling owner; were thrilled next morning to find the house as private, with as much outside space and surrounded by stunning views, all as we'd hoped. Were very happy with everything, from cleaning to bonus visiting cat (our name for her: Samaria). Had a fabulous stay and would visit again anytime!

  • Wonderful

    Period of Stay: Jun 2015

  • Splendid Holiday

    Period of Stay: Jun 2015
We stayed at Gianna Villa for two weeks and we enjoyed it! Great location for exploring Crete (near E -W highway in the north, good road to south coast) and very nice view. You will need a car to get to the villa.

Our Highlights in the area: Olive Mill at the highway exit, family owned restaurants at Lake Kurnas and markets in Chania.

The equipment of the villa is good. We had everything we needed. Our kids loved the pool! The owner is around tending his fields quite often and hat good tips for us. We appreciated the welcome basket, we found in the villa upon arrival...

    definitely a recommended stay.
  • 2 weeks holiday with young children

    Period of Stay: May 2015
We stayed at Gianna Villa for 2 weeks with our two young children (3 months and 2,5 years old) and enjoyed it very much. The swimming pool and garden are great. We stayed in the villa in May and the temperature of the pool water was very good (about 26 degrees). Near the pool there’s an outdoor shower. The terrace has a big roof now, so there was a lot of shade, which was very good with our young children. Kitchen and outside BBQ are very nice (big refrigerator in the kitchen!).

Bedrooms and beds are good, but the bathrooms are a little bit old. The shower in the en suite bathroom on the 1st floor caused a wet floor in the bedroom itself because of bad maintenance. The shower in the bathroom downstairs isn’t usable because there’s no shower curtain or something like that, so the whole bathroom (including the toilet) will be wet after a shower. So you had to take a shower in the bath of the bathroom on the first floor. Cleaning twice a week including fresh linen and cleaning of the pool. WIFI is working very well.

Gianna Villa is located near Vryses on the top off a hill. You will definitely need to hire a car if you are staying here and the steep hill leading to the villa is quite dramatic (definitely to be done in 1st gear!). But the panorama views from the villa are great. Beaches are just 10 minutes’ drive away.

So, a great villa in a great area of Crete!
  • Stay at Gianna villa

    Period of Stay: Sep 2014
We spent a week at Gianna villa and really enjoyed it!! It's a wonderful place, peaceful like we were looking for. The house was clean and well fitted, the pool and the deckchairs were just amazing, so as the view, and the barbecue was perfect and very well-fitted. Also, the fact that we could pick a few vegetables from the garden was very appreciated. :-) We spent great breakfasts on the second terrace in front of the rising sun. Finally, the owner was very nice and welcoming and the welcoming package with local food at our arrival was very appreciated All that really helped us to feel comfortable and, above all: ON HOLIDAY!! :-) Gianna is definitely a place where we could come back without hesitate,
  • Villa with unbelievable views

    Period of Stay: May 2014
Stayed in late May 2014. This is one of the best villas we have stayed. Extremely well appointed and maintained. Views you will never get tired of. Really the panorama is incredible. Pool is child friendly and close to the villa. Really enjoyed having access to the produce grown around the place and the host was friendly and helpful Be sure to try Costas tavern in Maza. Only thing really to complain about is the WiFi. I had to work throughout the vacation however connection was extremely unstable and often had issues logging in, which was inconvenient. WIll never forget the driveway :-)

We were for the second time in Gianna Villa. It is one of the most beautiful place for holidays. The house is great and the owner is really friendly. The surroundings are so nice and every day you can dicover new places. Highly recommanded!!! Thank you so much! We will come back!
  • Gianna villa - a week in October

    Period of Stay: Oct 2012
We had a very comfortable stay in Gianna villa. There is a beautiful view from the villa, a nice swimming pool, a garden, vegetable gardens, trees, and in general it is a peaceful setting. The villa is well-equipped for cooking at home, but we also had very good food in the tavernas in Vryses and nearby. There are places to sit outside on either side of the villa, so you can always find shelter if it is windy. It is on the road south to Skafon and many beautiful gorges for walking and good beaches both north and south.
  • Perfect holidays near Chania

    Period of Stay: Sep 2012
We spent wonderful holidays in Crete and in this villa: - its location is great : peaceful area with a wonderful view on the montains . It's not far from the Vryses and the national road (very practical). The villa itself was as described ; it was clean; many rooms; we enjoyed the swimming pool (pay attenntion, no security for young children). The owner is very welcoming and could give us some advices. The region near Chania is pleasant. A very good choice...
  • Great holiday

    Period of Stay: Sep 2012
We were for a week with 3 children (1-6) and we have to say it was amazing stay. Great villa with nice pool, garden, cats and amazing 360 view. Very kind owners who invited us to their yearly family celebration party. Nice village and beautifull beaches nearby. Great trips to Frangocastello and Rethymno. Most wonderful meal in small Maza (thank you Kostas!). Very entertaining last few hundred meters approach to the villa-) Thank you once again Sifi & your family
  • A superbe villa

    Period of Stay: Sep 2012
We had a very good time in Giana villa. Everything is welle organized in the house bed rooms, kitchen and a great barbecue. The garden and the grape yard at disposal of the residents , great .The situation of the house on a small hill, during hot summer is giving some fresh air. The owner is very kind and comming twice a week for external arrangement. The only point is wifi not working well, but we are in vacations. We where six people during three weeks in august, i think we will be back in Giana if a new chance for Creta.
  • wonderful villa in beautiful hillside location

    Period of Stay: Jun 2012
We had a wonderful week in Villa Gianna. The villa is situated in the hills above Vrisses, so it feels tucked away and secluded, but is in fact a very short drive from the beautiful beaches of Giorgopolis. The owner, Sifis, was very hospitable and greeted us with a basket of local produce (very useful all of it - e.g. olive oil, yoghurt, feta, delicious herbs, handmade olive oil soap...).

The villa has beautifully tended gardens and a lovely pool. There is a huge vegetable patch and we were encouraged to help ourselves to ripe produce (tomatoes, courgettes, etc). There is a wonderful stone built barbecue and pizza oven at the back of the villa.

The villa itself offered comfortable (but not luxurious) accommodation. It was spotlessly clean on arrival and a midweek maid service and linen change helped to keep it that way. There is one double room with an ensuite shower room and two twin rooms and a family bathroom on the upper floor. On the ground floor there is one double bedroom with it's own adjacent (but not ensuite) shower room. This shower room is also the only downstairs wc.

We were 2 families of 4, so 4 adults and 4 young children and it worked very well. The siblings shared the twin rooms and the adults were in the doubles.

Points to note: You will definitely need to hire a car if you are staying here and the steep hill leading to the villa is quite dramatic (definitely to be done in 1st gear!)

The pool is not gated, but it is visible from all points of the house and our children (ranging from 18months to 4 years old) soon understood the house rule of not going past the 'line' without a grown up, so it wasn't a problem, as long as we were vigilant.
  • Villa Gianna, Vryses

    Period of Stay: Aug 2011
Villa Gianna was a superb property with excellent facilities, inside and outside. The property had a homely feel about it and the surrounding mountains and views of the bay were spectacular. The owner had an attention to detail, was exceptionally helpful and friendly. We (8 of us) had a fantastic, memorable holiday which we will never forget. We enjoyed the garden and being able to help ourselves to the produce. Just one warning, the access to the villa from the main road was a bit challenging. It was only a very short distance, but it was a steep track with several sharp bends. We would thoroughly recommend this property to anyone who wants a truly beautiful environment in which to relax and enjoy the wonderful weather.
  • Wonderful time

    Period of Stay: Jul 2011
We spent a wonderful time in the Gianna Villa near Georgioupolis! The stone house with its four bedrooms, the open kitchen and living-room and the three bathrooms was great. It offers a lot of space and was really very apropriate for our needs. We have been there four persons and our almost two years old son, who loved the huge area (especially the garden) very much. The view from the house is gorgeous, the pool refreshing and the barbecue very nice. The house was cleaned two times a week. We felt very warm welcomed the first day, because we found in the house local products and a bottle of red wine as present as we arrived the first day ;-) The nice village Georgioupolis is not far and offers a long sandy beach and some good taverns and restaurants. When I'm coming next time to Crete, I will spend my time again in the Gianna Villa - it was very nice!
