Eleni Villa
Crete, Chania, Maleme area
4.8 out of 5 from 23  reviews

Villa Eleni is built on a hill 800m away from Maleme village, on a place offering an amazing view to Cretan Sea. The area was one of the most important fields of the battle of Crete. It was the place where the German parachutists were landed. In front of the villa is the old airport, the centre of replenishment for the western Crete during the war and 700m after the villa is the German military cemetery. Today Maleme is famous for its clear, long beaches and lots of tourists choose it for their vacations.

Eleni is a stone-built villa of 120 sq.m., built on a private property of 1.000 sq.m. In front of the house there is a private pool with sunbeds around it and a big area covered by grass, where kids can play safely. At a covered, shady corner there are a barbecue and a table with chairs, where you can enjoy your meals. Each point of the garden offers breathtaking view to the village, the coastline and the blue sea.

The villa has two floors. At the ground floor there are a cosy living and dining area with a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen with table and chairs and a bathroom. Stairs lead to the first floor, where a bathroom, a double bedroom and two twin bedrooms are found. The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom. All bedrooms have French doors leading to private balconies with view to the sea.

Covid-19 policy update

On Monday 13/04/2020, Greek Government Gazette published a new regulation (ΦΕΚ 84/Α/13-4-2020, Article 70) to help Greek tourism businesses (hotels and travel agencies) to avoid bankruptcy, due to the unprecedented number of cancellations caused by the pandemic.

The regulation allows these businesses to reimburse customers with 18-month vouchers instead of cash refunds, if these businesses are obliged, based on their policy, to refund any amount that the customers have paid in advanced. The regulation is valid for cancellations made between 25/02/2020 to 30/09/2020.

Holidaymakers will not lose their money and will have the chance to use their booking towards another holiday at a future date with the same business. If, for any reason, customers will not use the voucher within 18 months, businesses will be required to refund the initial amount of the bookings to the customers.

  • Traumhaft !

    Period of Stay: Sep 2019

  • Villa Eleni

    Period of Stay: Sep 2015
Loved this villa. Easy for our disabled daughter as there was a bedroom and shower downstairs. The location was lovely, it was secluded, but only a short distance to the local tavernas and supermarkets. The only downside was it stated there was a DVD player and there wasn't.

This is an ideal location for a a family that enjoys being near to amenities, but enjoy peace and quiet
  • Super !

    Period of Stay: Oct 2019
  • Perfect Getaway

    Period of Stay: Jun 2019
We stayed in the Eleni Villa for just over a week in July. It was the perfect house for both relaxing and seeing the area.

The days spent lazing around the pool and enjoying the view and the amazing sunsets were just wonderful. On the days we went out and about sightseeing the house was great to come back to and relax.

The communication was great and the owner met us at the house when we arrived even though it was late at night. He was always just a phone call away if we had any questions or needed anything.

I would recommend this place for a perfect getaway.
  • A few tweaks and this would be top notch

    Period of Stay: Jul 2018
We had a a very relaxing 10 day stay at Eleni Villa. The pool was sublime for all sorts of fun times with the family. More-so because basically now our family of 5 are all but adults. You're almost alone up there (raised above the tree line) and no one looking on.

The situation was great being one of two villas but in front of the other so the views afforded were uninterrupted by any other building. Also the fact that our villa was in front of the other meant most sound was deadened.

It was a short drive out into the sticks as such from the hustle and bustle that was Maleme, still typically just out of season. A car was a must to access the shops but the beach and general facilities easily walked to especially if you gathered the nerve to walk through a holiday complex nearer the beach.

When we arrived, the owner met us at the villa and indicated to us the wifi and typical other things. Nice to arrive to a bowl of fruit and plenty of bottled water in the big fridge freezer. The owner had stayed on because our flights in were delayed which was nice. The owner also ferried staff to us periodically whilst operating a maids service.

Okay the wifi wasn't amazing at times but we found that moving the unit upstairs into a bedroom helped. However it was a holiday so none of us were overly worried as to this issue. The air conditioning, not really advertised was throughout the villa and excellent.

The showers weren't perfect and the bathrooms were a little Britain 1990's. Also the dishwasher wasn't the best at washing, there were ants out on the patio, the odd gecko and the cicada's were endless, (yet no mossies).. but this is Crete and it comes with the territory. Talking of which, the territory (the land on which it was built) was the hill where the Germans landed, invading during the second world war. Lots of local history nearby.

The outside grill and pizza oven just fine and the provided loungers ideal. The outside shower by the pool was useful indeed. I wonder that the unused room downstairs could have been a good games room or gym? Just a thought.

Overall, yes it has the odd little issue but lots of good too ... so yes it gets 5 stars from us and all the family wish to go there again soon.
  • Nice villa but has some issues.

    Period of Stay: Jun 2018
The villa is exactly as in the photos. Located off the main road and up high enough for great views and peace.
The sunrises were amazing listening to the birds and cockerel!
A car is essential for the supermarket and transfer from airport.
Lovely villa with great views. Amazing swimming pool and garden. The villa is clean and comfortable with everything you need to relax and unwind.

However there are a couple of problems:
The internet connection is rubbish. When it does work the speeds are slow. I feel they should look having cabled internet installed as in 2018, it is essential.
The two showers and small toilet leave a lot to be desired.
Downstairs column shower covered in limescale stains, column didn't work and the handheld part had no where to hook it onto the wall.
Upstairs over the bath shower, better but still not great.
Small toilet upstairs, no window and smelt quite often.

I would recommend the villa. We had a great two weeks but the problems above need sorting to make it excellent.
  • Great villa

    Period of Stay: Aug 2016
We stayed at Eleni Villa for two weeks and had a great time. The villa was great, with three large bedrooms, two bathrooms (and one small connected to one bedrom) and very nice kitchen. Large garden and the pool was very good to. The depth is about 1.60-1.70 and our youth kids loved it and the size is good.

I would recommend renting a car, since the walk distance into Maleme is somewthat longer than a nice little walk when shopping groceries++ and you can easily get into Platanias, Chania and other beaches.
  • Villa Eleni beautiful

    Period of Stay: Jun 2016

    Period of Stay: Sep 2015

  • Eleni August 2015

we appreciated very much this villa.
the view is fantastic and the accomodations too.
    our stay was excellent.
  • Lovely Villa

    Period of Stay: Jul 2014
We had a great holiday in Western Crete and the villa is in a fantastic location on the hill overlooking Maleme. The property is very comfortable and the owner made us feel very welcome. A great family location and we would return.
  • Beautiful villa

    Period of Stay: Jun 2014
The location was excellent, quiet and tucked away but only a short drive or a walk to shops and restaurants. The villa was well located for driving out on day trips to Chania, Elafonissi, Souda Bay etc. The villa itself was excellent and brilliantly equipped with absolutely everything you could need. The owner was very welcoming and it was great to find water in the fridge and fresh fruit after arriving so late. We will definitely come back for a second visit.
  • A perfect place to be!

    Period of Stay: Sep 2013
This year we have stayed at this place for the third time and have already booked for next year.
It is not only the stunning view and the peaceful atmosphere at this place. It is also the friendly and warm welcome we get every year. All of us (2 famiies with young Kids - now 5 years old) see that as our very perfect holidays and there is never a question of comin again or not. Also we could recomment ro have a massage with Adam. He is comin to the house and is giving the massage right in the garden. Perfect!!!!
See you all next year in June.....
  • Beautiful Creta in Eleni Villa

    Period of Stay: Sep 2013
We stayed in Villa Eleni together with our fantastic group of friends. This was not our first experience with this company, as last year we stayed at Villa Nektarios. Both villas, which are identical, are beautiful and with a breath-taking view. The description of the villas on the website corresponds to reality, and so do the pictures. Mr Nektarios, a very nice and kind man, will welcome you and he's always available to help you for anything you may need during your stay. We really hope to go back to the beautiful Crete and to stay again in one of these villas. Tina.
  • Villa Eleni

    Period of Stay: Aug 2013
We had a lovely stay in Villa Eleni and highly recommend it. You never tire of the wonderful view and the villa is in such a quiet peaceful location. The garden is big and open and all the outside space was great - easy to get shade if wanted. Nice breeze by the pool in afternoons in August. We enjoyed eating at The Wave at Maleme, very friendly and right on the beach. We liked walking round Chamia harbour. We visited the highest restaurant in Upper Platanias and the view and food was worth the climb. Kissamos beach beautiful.
  • Loved it at Eleni

    Period of Stay: Apr 2013
My wife and I had a wonderful week at Eleni. The owner met us and was very pleasant but not intrusive although did turn up at any time of the day to water the plants etc. Fortunately the villa Nektarios behind had a quiet family staying there. If it had been a noisy family with say young children playing in the swimming pool we would not have liked staying there because it was the peace and quiet that helped make it so wonderful. Views across the sea and surrounding mountains are perfect. The swimming pool is deep with no shallow end and was too cold in early May to really enjoy. Automatic lighting comes on at night which makes the pool and garden attractive. We really appreciated all of the water the owner left in the fridge and in particular the oranges from his own garden. Maleme is nothing special and quite a walk away if it is hot but the villa is ideally placed for visiting the west of Crete including Hania. A car is a necessity to get to the nearest reasonably sized supermarket and the very good bakers along the road towards Hania.
  • Perfect place to relax, eleni

    Period of Stay: Sep 2012
We had a wonderfull stay in the villa eleni. You really get what you see on the pictures. Everything was nice and the view is just amazing, its the perfect place to turn off and relax. The owner of the villa was very friendy, you can ask him everything. The key handover was no problem. I can highly recommend this villa!
  • Period of Stay: Jul 2012
We stayed at Eleni Villa the first two weeks of July. Everything was perfect : the villa and surroundings, the contact with the owner, the renting of the car. The villa is beautiful and the view over the sea is amazing. You find everything in Maleme or Platanias : supermarkets, restaurants, gas station and even a doctor... We rest one day at the villa enjoying the swimming pool, and the seaview and the day after we visited the region : Chania, Gramvoussa and Balos by boat, Elafonissi, Falassarna, Omalos, Loutro at the south coast by boat from Chora Sfakion. It was our first trip in Greece with the children and they really enjoyed it ! Don't hesitate to land in Heraklion (we had cheaper flights than flying to Chania) We rode from Heraklion to Maleme (158km) at night and it was absolutely not a problem. We recommend this villa. We will surely come back !
  • Our great stay at Eleni Villa

    Period of Stay: Jun 2012
We had a great stay at Eleni villa, it was so quiet and peaceful, yet within walking distance of Maleme town. If you are looking for a chilled, relaxed holiday in a lovely well kept villa finished to a high standard, perched on a hill, over looking the sea and the town of Maleme we would highly recommend this villa.
  • Period of Stay: Jun 2012
  • Villa parfaite pour l'apéro

    Period of Stay: May 2012

  • Eleni Villa

    Period of Stay: Aug 2011
We spent really excellent vacations in Villa Eleni (6 people with teenagers). The landscape is wonderful with 180d view on the sea, in calm surroundings of olive trees plantation. The house by itself is beautiful with excellent finition and tasteful decoration and offers full amenities and is large enough for 6 with 3 rooms. The garden is large, with a lot of flowers and using the swimming pool in such beautiful surroundings was a pleasure by itself. Being next to the sea, there was always a cool, gentle air and it was never too hot. The owner takes very good care of the gardens, of the house and of its hosts. Staying at home is definitively an option but the location of the villa is also perfect, outside a small village with full commodities and with easy access to all very interesting and beautiful sites Creete offers in its western part (easy access to Hania, Rethymnon, Elafonissi, Kissamos, FrangoCastelli,...). We warmly recommend chosing this villa for vacations and will certainly rent it again.
  • Perfect place in Crete

    Period of Stay: Jul 2011
Eleni Villa pictures are very good. They tell a lot. Eleni Villa is perfect place for those who wants to enjoy nature, own peace, swimming pool, big and nice garden, clean and tidy house and wonderful view to sea. You can walk to the beach and to the nearest mini market. Bigger supermarkets (Lidl) is 6 kilometers from Villa Eleni on the to Platanias. My family drove to Platanias for dinners. We also cooked food at Eleni Villa. We visited beach Elafonisi, waterpark Limnopoulis, city of Chania, Therisso Gorge and Kissamo. We liked and enjoyed Eleni Villa a lot. I can recommend the place to people who wants to make their own holiday!
