Description

Dionysus Villa is locates outside Kalyves Village, 250m from the beach of Kyani Akti. The beach is sandy and shallow and not very organized; however, there are some umbrellas and sun loungers, one tavern and cafes. About 1km away starts the organized beach of Kalyves with umbrellas, sun loungers, water sports and lifeguards. The biggest super market of the village is located 250m away from the villa, while in the village there are many restaurants, cafes, butcher, bakery, drag store and all kinds of shops.

The beautiful outdoor area of the villa is ideal for relaxation and romantic moments. A wooden outdoor dining set is placed under the pergola, while the palm and pine trees cast their shadow over the grass and the sitting set. There are sun loungers around the private pool and outdoor sets at the balconies and the garden. The view over the Souda Bay is majestic, especially at night when the lights of Akrotiri shine on the waters...

The wooden ceiling, the stone arches and walls, the ceiling lights and the beautiful decoration create an impressive interior. The ground floor consists of the sitting area, the dining set, the kitchen and one bathroom. All beds are found on the mezzanine floor; the double bed is separated from the twin beds with a wooden partition. One more bathroom is found on this floor.

  • Amazing! First class

    Period of Stay: Sep 2019
My husband and I along with our friends stayed in this first class villa and could not fault it in anyway. From the second we arrived we were in awe of the place 5* through and through. We were greeted by the owner and her son, who had cooked a meal for us ( which was delicious and very welcome after a long journey and late arrival). We had 2 more visits with more food and goodies including, olive oil, honey, cake, biscuits etc.(homemade).

The Villa itself is surrounded with fruit trees which we were told to help ourselves to. The pool was cleaned every morning and the villa was cleaned once during the week. We did not feel that we were interrupted or inconvenienced in any way by this. The owners and cleaner were very helpful and friendly. The extra touches made our holiday.

This is a stunning Villa, in a beautiful location ( just a short walk to beach, supermarket, bars, restaurants etc). We highly recommend anyone thinking of visiting here to do it! One of ( if not THE BEST) place we have stayed in. CANNOT FAULT ANYTHING!!! So happy we stayed here and will definitely be back. Thank you.
  • Perfect

    Period of Stay: Sep 2019
Wow, what a gorgeous villa a beautiful location, and fantastic hosts, On arrival at 10.30pm, the owner had prepared us a meal, of stuffed vegetables. Ratatouille and fish, and that level of kindness never stopped throughout our stay, the villa is full to the brim of everything you need and more, the pool is fabulous, Within 2 mins you are at a supermarket, bars, restaurants and the amazing beach,

We abopted 2 little cats who where adorable, highlight was a boat hire, and we see things that are only accessible via boot, Beenie and Sean the boot owners where fantastic, and can be found at the old port of kalyives, kumos is a must, a wonderful restaurant come museum,

All in all a very memorable holiday, and one of which i and my husband would be over the moon to stay at again and again,

Thank you so much Catrina, and family, your hospitality was without a doubt the very best it could be,
  • Wonderful place!

    Period of Stay: Jun 2019
Great place to stay with breathtaking views over the sea.
The owners are really nice and helpful and spoiled us with delicous greek food.
  • Great place to stay

    Period of Stay: Jun 2019
My husband, son and I stayed at the Dionysus Villa for 5 days. It is in a beautiful setting with a spectacular view, 20 minutes from Chania. The villa is spacious, clean and has everything you’d need. Although it is quiet and very private, it’s a short walk to the beach, a good grocery store and restaurants. The owner made a home-cooked meal that was ready for us when we arrived. We loved staying there.
  • Wonderful!

    Period of Stay: Sep 2018
We spent the first week in Oct with my sister and brother in law in this lovely villa. Our hosts were so welcoming, even preparing a lovely Cretan meal for us! The fridge too was full of goodies from cheese, salad, tomatoes etc. Lemons pomegranates from the garden and a bottle of wine and raki as well as home produced delicious olive oil. This was far more than we expected. The family popped round mid week with some boureki, a typical local dish and then some little cheese pies.

The villa itself is very well equipped as others have said and the pool although a bit chilly was refreshing! The bedrooms are on a mezzanine floor with just a privacy screen between them so you need to know one another well!!

We hope to return to this lovely villa next year and cannot recommend it highly enough.
  • Such a Welcome!

    Period of Stay: Sep 2018
This two bedroomed villa is in a superb location, surrounded by vines and olive trees, with great sea views and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The swimming pool was cleaned several times during the week and the villa was cleaned mid week as well. There was an abundance of spare towels and linen and we felt very at home there during our stay. The walk to the beach was about 5 minutes and took us past the super market and places to eat. I thoroughly recommend it. There is no need for a car and a bus runs to various places from outside the supermarket.

The most memorable thing about this villa, however, is the welcome that awaits guests from the owners, who just want to do all they can to make you feel relaxed about your stay. The food provided as a starter pack was amazing and we were told to pick fruit freely from the garden. Pommegranites were the fruit of our stay in September! This is truly a memorable place!
  • Like a dream

    Period of Stay: Sep 2018
We spent one week in this lovely House.

Everything was perfect. The house is really equipped with everything you need. While you relax at the well kept pool, you have a fantastic view.

It is perfect located to restaurants, beach and supermarket.

The hosts took care of us and surprised us with home cooked delights.

We had a wonderful time here. THANKS!!!
  • Just as beautiful second time around!

    Period of Stay: Aug 2018
We are a family of four who, until staying at Villa Dionysus, have never returned to the same destination or villa. To return again is a reflection of how truly lovely this villa and location are. Our second stay at this beautiful villa was just as fantastic as our first visit in 2015. Katerina and her family are such wonderful hosts, whose hospitality extends way beyond any that we have ever experienced on other holidays.

This is such a beautiful part of Greece that we will no doubt visit again and return to the tranquility of Villa Dionysus.

    Thank you for a wonderful stay...again :)
  • Perfect villa, perfect location, perfect hosts.

    Period of Stay: Aug 2018
We felt instantly at home in Villa Dionysus and we had a wonderful, relaxing two week holiday. Surrounded by fruit trees, a vineyard and an olive grove, the villa is located in a beautiful, tranquil spot offering stunning views of the mountains and the sea. All our needs were catered for from the delicious meal on arrival, to the food supplies in the fridge, the mosquito machines on hand and the regular cleaning of the pool and villa. We will miss picking the fresh figs for breakfast each day! The villa is ideally situated for easy access on foot to the beach, supermarket, tavernas/cafes, bus stop and the village of Kalyves. We didn't rent a car but got around easily on foot, by bus or with the occasional taxi. We loved exploring Kalyves and the surrounding area and soaking up the Greek/Cretan culture and cuisine. Recommend the nearby 'Piperia' taverna for traditional, homegrown Cretan dishes. The ancient ruins at Aptera are well worth a visit as is the traditional village of Stulos. We took the bus to Chania a couple of times and also to the neighboring resort of Almirida for a snorkelling boat trip and water sports. I think we have fallen in love with the villa and this part of Crete and we definitely hope to return.
  • Period of Stay: Jul 2018
Wonderful Villa, wonderful hosts, wonderful location. No complaints
  • Amazing villa with ses view to die for

    Period of Stay: Jun 2018
From our hearts, THANK you Caterina and family for giving us a real Greek experience and an amazing holiday in your fantastic villa. The villa is top class and has got everything you need. The design, interior and furniture is amazing. The 180 degrees ocean view is to die for and so lovely. We really like that there are nice sun beds and top nice garden furnitures. When we arrived Catherina had cooked us delicious home made Greek food and left the fridge filled with feta, Vegetables, juice, olive oil and much more. Amazing to be welcomed in such a way. Late in the week suddenly there was a small surprise food bag and raki on our door step with amazing Greek home cooked food.

The villa has got plenty of towels, shampoo and cleaning articles. We felt so welcome and had an amazing week. Around the villa there are olive trees and fruit trees to pick from. The beach is 3 min away, down the small hill (use the path next to the local Greek restaurant) and super marked is 300 meters away down the hill. Also we found the best restaurants in town just down the hill. Try the restaurant right next to the beach, very informal and looks like “nothing”, they cook homemade greek food and grow their own vegetables. It takes 15 min to walk to down town, however we liked best the restaurants close to the house. We can warmly recommend villa Dionysus, we had the best holiday ever. From our hearts thank you Catherina and family.
  • The perfect getaway

    Period of Stay: Jun 2018
This was our second time here and it was just as amazing as the first.
Katernina and George were at the Villa to great us, and made us feel like we had just got back home. Again they had kindly left us some dinner and a stocked fridge full of veg and water.
The Villa is in a perfect location with views to die for. It has everything you need and more, we really cannot find a negative about it. Perfect for a Romantic holiday.

This part of Crete is so unspoiled, you will find no high rise, you will find no clubs, what you will find are beautiful beaches with mountain backdrops and vast Olive Groves and Vineyards.
The Tavernas are dotted around the village serving up Cretan specialties and international cuisine, definitely something for everyone. If you are not eating out the Supermarket was just a 5 minute walk from the Villa.

If you are after a relaxing, tranquil and stress free place to stay then this is it. Book it!!
Thanks again Katerina and George for our fantastic stay and lovely departure gifts.
    We will be back.
  • Sehr, sehr schön!

    Period of Stay: May 2018
  • Period of Stay: May 2018
Lovely villa. Great views. Nice pool. Very well equipped kitchen.
Directions good from Souda but from the airport I wasted time going through Chania centre - a comment to follow signs to Souda/Rethymno from the airport would have helped.
Bathroom shower head fixtures need replacing and if not careful water can leak under the door!
The traditional meal already prepared on arrival was delicious and a very welcome, pleasant surprise.
Local restaurants were excellent and decent value despite food prices at supermarket being surprisingly high (but not much you can do about that!)
  • Period of Stay: Apr 2017
We had an amazing time at Villa Dionysus. The owners were really lovely - exceptionally warm, hospitable and generous, giving us home made food and gifts during our stay, including an Easter gift for our daughter. When we arrived, tired after an early flight, we were delighted that they ŵelcomed us with delicious home made dishes, which was really welcome after our long journey. The villa was gorgeous. Spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated and the pool was a real highlight, especially for our daughter, even though it was a bit 'refreshing' in early spring! Everything was fantastic, and though a car isn't essential, we were glad to have one as we were able to explore the beautiful island. We would definitely like to return in future.
  • Dionysus Villa

    Period of Stay: Aug 2017
A very wonderful stay at this lovely villa. Great location with easy access to the beach, shops & restaurants. The owners couldn't do enough and left us with a fabulous home cooked meal for the first night and fully stocked fridge which was a great help. Well worth visiting Chania, Elafonissi & Aptera. Would recommend this location to anyone.
  • Perfect holiday home

    Period of Stay: Aug 2017
This place is just amazing, it has everything you need, breath-taking views over the sea, a great pool, fully fitted kitchen with all appliances, lots of space, no direct neighbours and it just feels so peaceful and quiet. The location is brilliant, only a short drive to Chania and easy access to the Rethimno area, Akrotiri and the West coast (Elafonissi especially). Last but not least, the owners are incredibly nice, welcoming and helpful. I would recommend this villa to anyone who wants a quiet retreat in western Crete.
  • Villa Dionysus - Excellent villa excellent location

    Period of Stay: Aug 2017
I will be short, the website and other reviews say it all, this is an excellent family villa and lovely family owners.

Short walk to local restaurants on flat road, easy by car to other places. Lovely pool and airy rooms, kitchen fit for purpose if not using restaurants,

Lovely local beach with good facilities, ten min walk away.

Would, I stay here again? Absolutely yes.
  • Perfect family villa

    Period of Stay: Aug 2017
I will be short, the website and other reviews say it all, believe the reviews , this is an excellent family villa and lovely family owners.

Short walk to local restaurants on flat road, easy by car to other places. Lovely pool and airy rooms, kitchen fit for purpose if not using restaurants,

Lovely local beach with good facilities, ten min walk away.

  • Just lovely!

    Period of Stay: Jul 2017
We recently returned from Crete and we enjoyed our time at the Dionysus Villa very much. We were greeted by the lovely owners who were incredible hosts the entire week - cooking us fresh meals, treating us to homemade olive oil, fresh fruit and vegetables and a fully stocked fridge.

The villa itself was immaculate, tasteful, airy and spacious - beautiful. The pool was a good size and perfect temperature which was cleaned and maintained throughout the week. The kids loved it. Location couldn't have been better, with the Kalives super market just a 5 minute walk away as well as several lovely beach side restaurants.

I'm very happy to give Dionysus Villa 5 stars and we hope to return in the future. Thank you so much!
  • A little bit of heaven

    Period of Stay: Jun 2017
Wow beautiful villa - the sea views are gorgeous. The villa itself was stunning well laid out and equipped.

we were there for 2 weeks in June 2017 and was looking for a relaxing time and boy did we get it! It was with regret we left the villa to sight see!!

Katerina, George and their 2 handsome sons Konstantinos and Manos - were wonderful! Food on arrival - straight from Katerinas oven! Far too much food and gifts - we felt spoiled rotten! But it all added to the charm of Dionysus and Kalyves !!

We spent a lot of our holiday eating at the Kymata Beach restaurant at the bottom of the hill - wonderful food and staff!!

If we had to be picky the only "trouble" we had was with the hand held showers - however we quickly overcame that with a bit of gaffa tape ha ha.

We will be back next year!!
  • Paradise

    Period of Stay: May 2017
My husband & I have just returned home after ten perfectly glorious days at Villa Dionysus. The setting of the villa is so beautiful, the views are stunning and all amenities are close at hand, including a butcher, baker, supermarket & a selection of welcoming restaurants.

The villa itself is remarkable, so thoughtfully presented and equipped with everything you need and more, we fell in love with it on the very first day. There is absolutely nothing negative that can be said, the Villa itself, location & amenities are superb. Our daughters aged 2 & 4 thoroughly enjoyed there stay here, as did we, five star luxury indeed!

There is so much to explore and see on this beautiful island and we found Villa Dionysus the perfect base from which to do it and truly hope to return again. We cannot thank enough, Katerina, George & Konstantinos for their exceptional welcome, hospitality and delightful traditional Cretan dishes that only added to the luxury of our stay and made us feel so welcome, if not spoilt!

Thank you so much. I must also add how impressed we were with the booking process, car hire and customer service throughout. Nothing was too much trouble, communication fantastic and all arrangements smoothly made on our behalf by Chania Rentals.
  • Wondeful Vacation

    Period of Stay: Apr 2017
We had great holiday week in Dionysos Villa. How lovely host's we had there, Katarina and George. Ever seen , when coming to a rent house, family was waiting there with nice dinner with wine and Raki, awsome.
  • Villa Dionysus

    Period of Stay: Sep 2016
We booked Villa Dionysus at the last minute, and we are delighted we did. We loved every minute of our week there. The villa is beautifully equipped, beautifully situated and the owners - Katerina and George - could not have been kinder or more hospitable. We particularly enjoyed the lovely outdoor seating areas, which were thoughtfully and tastefully arranged.

We fully intend to go back, and wholeheartedly recommend the villa to others.
  • Our Experience

    Period of Stay: Sep 2016
We had a wonderful time, the Villa was just perfect and the location was great just 5 minutes from the beach. The owners were lovely they really made us welcome giving us food and wine on arrival and also during the week. Would thoroughly recommend this villa and would really like to go back again sometime.
  • Thank you!

    Period of Stay: Aug 2016
Paradise! Beautiful home, location, perfect hosts. The photographs do not lie. I would highly recommend this Villa, it suited our family, we took our children ages 5 and 7. The pool was great for them as it has a shallow end. Thank you Katerina and George, you were the ultimate hosts, we loved trying your homemade food and wine etc and felt utterly spoiled. You totally charmed our children. Everything was clean, it was lovely to have the pool cleaned every 2 days too. I do hope we can come back soon.
  • Fantastic stay

    Period of Stay: Jul 2016
This is an amazing villa is a fantastic location. It's just 5 mins walk to a lovely sandy beach which, although not completely calm water, was perfectly fine for my 3 and 5 year olds and the waves added some fun to our beach days. There are a couple of nice tavernas for lunch on the beach and also a couple just at the bottom of the lane that the villa is on, just 2 mins walk away. Kalyves itself is a 15 min walk.

The owners are absolutely lovely and greater us with food, homemade wine and olive oil and we were invited to pick fresh figs whenever we wanted from the huge fig tree in the gardens. The pool was cleaned every 2 days and, as we stayed for 2 weeks, the villa was also serviced 3 times. It was very clean and the kitchen as very well appointed.

I would highly recommend this villa, just so you know what you are getting, bear in. I don't that the whole villa is open plan with the beds on a mezzanine level and the double and two singles separated by a partition rather than separate rooms. The website does make this clear though. This was fine for us, especially as you are inside so little, but might not work for everyone. Also, the two bathrooms have basic facilities, handheld shower units in the corner of very small spaces. Again, this worked for us but might not be up to some people's expectations. The only other thing to note is that clothes storage is fairly limited with one small wardrobe for all of you. Not a big issue for us.

    Lovely, would return tomorrow!
  • 15 jours de plaisir !

    Period of Stay: Jul 2016

  • could not recommend this villa highly enough!

    Period of Stay: May 2016
My wife and I stayed here in late May 2016 and had a fantastic time. The villa is just stunning - the pictures do not lie! The welcome we received fro Katerina and George was so warm and generous. We arrived very late (23.00pm) and they were there to meet us - with beautiful hot food, wine, raki, fruit, cheese, milk, breakfast cereals and more. Their son called in the next day to clean the lovely private pool and show us how it worked and brought more food! As our flight home was quite late when we were leaving Katerina allowed us stay late in the villa whic was a god send. This is a beautiful villa in it own very private grounds - it is very near to the beach and a few restaurants and the lovely village of Kalyves is only 15 minutes walk away - where there are plenty of lovely bars and restaurants.
  • Simply the best!

    Period of Stay: Apr 2016
We had an amazing time at the Dionysus villa, it was the highlight of our 5 weeks in Greece. Everything was perfect. The place was clean, the view is beautiful, the pool a must, perfect location for a relaxing vacation! The owners of the house were the best we ever had. We had a chance to meet them and taste their home made olive oil, honey and more. We wish our stay was longer. Crete has so much to offer we will go back one day for sure. We would strongly recommend staying at this villa and book a place throught Chaina rentals, they are very professional and helpful.
  • Wonderful!

    Period of Stay: Oct 2015
We spent a wonderful week (3 adults) at the Dyonisus Villa. We enjoyed every minutes of that week. Villa is clean, confortable and well equipped. The outside terraces are peasant and convenient with a nice view on the ocean. The generosity of the owners George and Katerina is outstanding..thank you to them! Highly recommended.
  • An excellent property and wonderful owners!

    Period of Stay: Oct 2015
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Dionysus. The house is extremely comfortable and well-equipped, and the pool area is fantastic with wonderful views. The owners were wonderful and, as other reviewers have commented, they stocked the fridge for us on arrival and left us some lovely home-cooked food and brought sweets and treats over for our family. The villa location is excellent as it is very quiet, but also only a few minutes walk from the main supermarket.
All in all, an excellent stay.
  • The best

    Period of Stay: Jul 2015
We had wonderful two weeks in Dionysus villa. The villa, the garden, the rooms, the kitchen are of high quality. With two girls, 16 and 12, we had a great time doing sightseeingtrips, using the pool and being in the garden. It was so good to be there that we were less at the beaches than we planned. The great hospitality of Konstantinos and Catherina makes the stay even more unique. The photos of the homepage give a wonderful impression what you will find there. We highly recommend this place for great holidays.
  • Magnificent villa, wonderful hosts, brilliant holiday

    Period of Stay: Aug 2015
We stayed at this beautiful villa during the last week of August. It is in a superb location and perfect for us as a family of four with children aged 10 and 9.

We had read other reviews about the hospitality of the owners Katerina and George but even so we're not really prepared for their incredible generosity. We arrived at the villa to be greeted by the owners a stocked fridge and home cooked Greek dishes in the oven. Katerina and George also dropped by with other dishes for us to sample over the holiday. They were very respectful of privacy when doing so.

The villa is incredibly spacious and cool. We noted other reviews had commented that the upstairs of the villa was rather warm. The air conditioning has obviously all been upgraded since then and worked perfectly for us with units in both bedrooms and various other points in the villa..

We had an amazing time with all amenities being close by. You really do not need a car to stay here. A very relaxing break and only wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you!
  • Diamond

    Period of Stay: Jun 2015
We had the most beautiful holiday in Villa Dionysus ever in Crete. The villa was well equipped and spacious for four persons. The location was good: tavernas and a big supermarket were near and the surrounding area was very quiet. We had rented a car so it was easy to explore other villages, beaches and Chania. The hostcouple Katerine and George made our stay memorable: their hospitality was something we have never experienced before. Katerine brought some creek food for us several times and the food was even better than any restaurants we visited. It feels they really wanted to take a good care of their visitors. We raelly recommend the villa for everyone who are bored to spend the holiday in hotels ;)
  • Excellent villa, wonderful hosts

    Period of Stay: May 2015
Dionysus Villa is beautiful, airy, bright and spacious and very well equipped. My husband and I were made to feel very welcome by Katerina and her family and the delicious good she cooked for us regularly was the best food we ate whilst in kalyves. There are lovely views from the villa and it's a very short walk in to Kalyves from there. We enjoyed our holiday very much and we were very grateful of the warm and generous hospitality which Katerina afforded us.
  • Great holiday

    Period of Stay: Apr 2015
Our family was totaly enthustiactic about the house as weel as about the location! Big stone made house is extremely spacy, an enourmous living room is big enough for many more than 4 people (number of beds). The interior is elegant but warm and cute (leather sofas, big soft carpet, stone floor, wooden stairways..).

The location could not been better, almost at the top of the hill with a great view. From the back door where the big pool is you can see the whole bay, with no trafic or near by neigbours. You can eat breakfast, swim, lie at the deckchair, play at the meadow around the pool. There is a lovely wooden fence around the property so you can catch the kids or the towels when the wind is to strong : ).

The owners are too good to be true, with no hint of being pushy. When we arrived the table was ready and oven full of different home cooked/backed food for more then our family. The kitchen was more equipped than at our home, fresh vegetable in the refrigirator, cheese, fresh bottle of vine, oil, boxes of cerealls, fresh bread..

On the second day we locked ourselves out from the house. They came immidiately, bringing us packages of freshly cooked meal along. They asked us to inform them when we will be out from the house so they came and cleaned the whole house/change towels in the middle of the week once more. Beside this, they pushed no contact.

Maybe we missed closets for the clothes (there are just a few drawers), but we injoyed the house so much that forgot about this in 2 seconds
  • A lovely villa

    Period of Stay: Apr 2015
We arrived at the villa to be warmly welcomed by Katerina and George and one of their sons, the table was ready outside and Katerina dished up a delicious home cooked lunch for us. They left food in the fridge, fruit, water, Raki and wine! They also brought us Greek pastries and other home cooked food during our stay. There is a supermarket a few minutes walk from the villa and it is within walking distance of the centre of Kalyves (although it was early season and not all the restaurants and bars were open) and the little harbour. It was lovely to be able to see the beautiful snow capped mountains from the centre of the village. We had a lovely stay at Villa Dionysus and Katerina, George and their sons are such a hospitable family.
  • Brilliant holiday at Dionysus

    Period of Stay: Mar 2015
Thank you so much to Katerina and George for a wonderful, wonderful holiday. We could not have been made more welcome by our generous and considerate hosts. The villa was just what we were after. Plenty of space, everything you could wish for a really comfortable stay and well set up so that you can follow or hide from the sun all day long. Pick your own lemons, make yourself a drink and sit on one of the balconies or poolside to enjoy the view over the sea. Great having the supermarket a short walk away and everything you need available in Kalyves a few minutes drive away. The villa was great for exploring both the north coast and heading into the mountains and villages inland. By the end of the holiday we felt truly spoilt and would happily recommend the villa and its lovely owners. It is really well located to head into Chania and we advise at least one trip to the gorgeous Winter Cinema - Iroon Politechniou str - a 1940s cinema where films still come with a mid-show intermission. Overall a wonderful stay for us and our two young boys. Thanks again for making us so very welcome and all the wonderful gifts.
  • CHANIA - recommended for anyone

    Period of Stay: Aug 2014
These were our most beautiful holidays so far. Everything was absolutely fantastic. The hosts organized their residence perfectly for a family vacation. Their home is charming, very comfortable and equipped with all the necessary tools. The swimming pool is big and very well maintained. What is more the house overlooks beautiful sea, so the view is just mesmerising. What is unusual is that the hosts are such an amazing and hospitable people. Very helpful and kind. I would recommed stay at this residence to anyone, and I will definitely be back soon.
  • What A beautiful place!

    Period of Stay: Sep 2014
The villa was perfect, exactly as described with everything you needed for a comfortable stay. The gardens are typical Cretan olive groves & fruit trees. Kalives was a lively town within walking distance & the sea was gorgeous. Bonus of it being just over the road. It was lovely to lie in bed & hear the waves in the distance. The pool was good size and clean. The USP for Dionysus villa must be the owners. George & Katerina & their son Manolis were so kind & welcoming. Their English was good which helped when they were telling us all about the area & history of Crete. They showered us with gifts of food & wine every time we saw them. My only comment for improvement would be some slightly clearer instructions from the airport. the photos are good but not so helpful in the dark, plus only cover last 3 miles. Failing that use your sat nav on your phone to Kalives.
  • A lovely villa

    Period of Stay: Aug 2014
This was a lovely open plan villa, with a large pool, a fantastic view of the sea and a great location within easy walking distance of the beach, local restaurants and the supermarket. The owners were lovely, so helpful, and provided us with some delicious home cooked food. We would love to return one day.
  • LOVELY HOLIDAYS IN CRETE

    Period of Stay: Jul 2014
We spent 2 fantastic weeks in Dionysus Villa. The Crete is a magnificent island with differents landscapes. Mountains and seafronts are both marvelous. Cretan are kind people. The owners of the villa are so kind, so attentives...we left them as friends. We had delicious dishes when we arrived and also during our stay ! The house is cleaned every week, well fitted with a splendid view on the sea. The only negative remark would be on the air-conditioning which was not enough powerful for the whole house. The house is a very good starting point to visit the west part of the island. Chania is a beautiful harbor. The Parasia 's restaurant near Vamos is a fantastic place to eat cretan foods and people are very kind. The Monastery of Agia Triada is worth the trip as the discover of the Akrotiri (the walk to the Katholico cave is splendid). Enjoy your stay in Crete !
  • Cretan Civilisation at Villa Dyonysus

    Period of Stay: Aug 2014
Five stars doesn't seem enough. Our hosts, the villa's perfectly equipped rooms, the land, the location... it all made for a holiday I feel was without fault. Katerina's superb food and the warm welcome we got on arrival started what was an utterly indulgent two weeks. Nothing was deceptively described and there was no misleading information. We were quite relieved that their English was so good as my Greek is hopeless! The villa is cleaner than clean, well thought out and in one of the loveliest spots I've ever seen. I hope I'll always remember the sweet scent of the ripening figs on the trees around the villa, the sound of the crickets at night and the soothing lull of the sea. Our hosts' generosity, their personalities and approach confirms that the Greeks still have a lot to teach us. From the three of us, thank you, thank you, thanks you.
  • Dionysus

    Period of Stay: Jun 2014
Our holiday was unfortunately cut short due to my husbands work commitments but our brief stay at Dionysus was idyllic. A beautiful setting, very warm and friendly welcome by the owners with a meal ready prepared in the oven which after a long day of travel was very welcome. The ONLY negative to the property albeit an important one was the air conditioning which in the month of June was not very effective and also very noisy so I would hate to think what it would be like in August. Due to the design of the property all the heat is in the upper floor and difficult to get cool with only one air conditioning unit on the ground floor. We would stay there again but only in cooler months unless something was done about this.
  • A perfect place to be

    Period of Stay: Jun 2014
Hello everybody! It's the first time I write comments about a rental for holidays but I've to say that this villa was perfect! We were 3 adults and 1 baby (only 4 months) and everything was done to be comfortable: the villa's owners (Katerina and George) welcome us at 2:00 am with a real dinner in the oven and so much good things to eat and drink!!! Moreover, they came back 2 times more in the week just to bring us additionnal fresh fruits, cooked dishes,... Even theirs 2 sons were really lovely and so helpful! French people have to learn about Cretan's hospitality! The swimming pool was at 28°C every days and there is always a shady terrace outside to have a drink. I really recommand this villa and this website (so helpful) for holidays in Crete!
  • Most wonderful week holiday ever

    Period of Stay: May 2014
My fiancee and I chose Dyonisus Villa because the pictures were very appealing at first, and on-site, the place is even more amazing ! The Landlords are really nice and kind; they waited for us to present the villa and they made us taste the local products (meals, liquor "Raki",cheese, wine, fruits, vegetables..)

The weather was nice and the swimming pool is perfect to enjoy a relaxing sunny day. All the commodities are here, longchairs, garden table and chairs (if you want to lunch outside with a glass of wine... sweet!!!) The view from the balcony of the room is also quite fantastic.

It's very quiet and disconnecting from 'busy city environment'. We strongly recommend it for couples no matter what age, small families, group of friends (all age as well ;) )

The beach is 15 min walking distance ! niiice

The village is 200 meters from the villa, there are small local cafés and restaurants (I recommend to grab a gyros at the little restaurant next to the first butchery -> delicious!)

The highway is close too, if you have a car, you won't get any problem to reach Chania, which is a really nice city to walk around. (and enjoy a cocktail at the bar with the view on the port)

The car rental of chania-rentals is also simple of booking, and the car we had was great and exactly what we needed. C3

It was a perfect 1 week romantic getaway, we enjoyed it together and we will definitely come back, it was amazing ;)
