Amazing panoramic sea view

The villa is ideal for family but also for romantic vacations. The terrace by the pool is suitable for BBQs, admiring the view of Souda Bay, which takes your breath, especially at sunset.

Welcome to Markos Villa

Markos Villa is built on the top of a hill which enables you to enjoy a magnificent sea and mountain view, even from the garden. Almirida, a fishing village with a shallow and sandy beach, is only 4,5 km away. Drapanos is an unspoilt, peaceful and picturesque village and an ideal starting point for excursions to the most beautiful part of the prefecture of Chania: Apokoronas area.

The villa is surrounded by plain fields, giving a sense of seclusion and peace. The yard is full of exotic plants and colourful flowers. In the terrace, you will find a place suitable for BBQ. Moreover, there is a private pool totally out of sight, from which you have a great view of the village, the surrounding mountains, and Souda Bay. The pool is suitable for children as it has an integral children's pool. In the yard there are also 6 sun beds and a garden table.

The house has two floors and an attic. At the ground floor you will find the sunlit living room, the full-equipped kitchen and a wc. A French door opens to a covered veranda with a large table and chairs for lovely midday meals. On the first floor, there are one twin and one double bedroom, both with private balconies with view to the village of Drapanos. On the same floor there are a bathroom and a big veranda (8 sq.m.) ideal for lovely dinners, overlooking the mountains and Souda Bay. On the second floor, the attic, there are a twin bedroom and a private cosy living room. There is also another veranda with breathtaking sunset view.

We were a family of two adults and three children, 10, 13,15 and enjoyed staying in Markos Villa very much. The villa was comfortable and clean with plenty of different terraces to eat or sit depending on the sun, and the views of Suda Bay were stunning. On some mornings the adults got up early to watch the sunrise. The garden although small was rather lovely; and we all enjoyed the pool. The local taverna was excellent - very friendly and relaxed and we ate there several times. The only downside to the villa with teenagers is that it is too far from Chania or Rethymno to just go in for a couple of hours. In general, however, a very good place to stay.

We stayed in Markos Villa for a week with our 13-years old daughter and our 78-years old mum. The villa was really spacious, finished to a good standard and suitable for our needs. The pool is stunning, nice size. We were dining out most of evenings in Almirida, but when we did eat at the villa, we enjoyed the terrace on the first floor as this gives you a lovely view of the Souda Bay. We watched the stars from the top of the house - the terrace is 360 degrees, so you can see the mountain tops as well as the sea. On the day of the arrival we were greeted with warm moussaka in the oven and a tray of small parcels filled with dill and feta cheese! It was simply delicious . What a lovely touch!

We have a big family with 5 kids and needed a place that we could spread out and have fun. This was the perfect place. It is very close to a small village which has lots of nice restaurants and a nice beach. The villa was very clean and the owners / staff were very helpful and friendly. The villa is as big as the pictures show. You could easily have 10 people staying there i believe with all the space it provides. The pool is great, as is the pool table and kids play ground which is not shown in the photos! We would definitely recommend and come back again.

This villa has the most extraordinary views I've ever experienced. Ever, anywhere. I totally fell in love with the views and the area. It is quite high up a hill/small mountain and the location is mesmerising. The house has a room at the top which is very, very cosy, with wooden floors, a slanted wooden ceiling, a real delight! It also has 3 outside terraces, the top one allowing a 360 degree view of the surrounding area. It is also quiet and peaceful, despite there being other properties in the vecinity. All this makes up for a pretty un-cosy living area, a poorly kitted kitchen (but then we always go out for dinner when on holidays) and the staircase steps being higher than usual. Not for somebody with a disability at all! The owner's wife kindly expected us with a delicious moussaka in the fridge and some other delights which were yummie! Would I go back? Definitely!

My wife and I had a wonderfull time at the Markos Villa. Unlike other villa's we have rented in the past it was a pleasant surprise to find simple things like coffee/sugar etc already at the villa and really appreciated the home cooked moussaka/cheese and spinach parcels!! We would certainly recommend staying at the villa to anyone as it is in a lovely out of the way place with great views, but not too far away from places such as Kalives or Georgioupolis.

Sept. 2011. Many thanks to the owner and to Chania-Rentals for our stay at Markos Villa - the moussaka that was waiting for us was much appreciated and we enjoyed our stay very much. The villa itself was both practical and clean and the views are excellent. The pool area is lovely and not overlooked but there is a villa nearing completion next door that may change that Although Drapanos is a small village there is a small supermarket that will cater for most immediate needs and three tavernas within easy walking distance. There are plenty of nice beach front tavernas in Almrida and Kalives that are a short drive away. There are enough places of interest within an hours drive to make day trips worthwhile (I'd recommend the 'Rough Guide to Crete' for details). We enjoyed the Old Town in Chania, Lake Kournas, and the Ayia reservoir (the latter for its diversity of wildlife - birds, terrapins, dragonflys etc.) This was our first trip to Crete, but it won't be our last. Thanks Again

The villa was very clean, and we were welcomed with a wonderful moussaka and spinach and fata cheese parcels. The villa though is very windy, and the pool never managed to get warm so evening swimming was never a goer! It would have been nice though to have had details as to where the local amenities were such as supermakets, pharmacists etc and also to have had some emergency phone numbers. Overal though we had a wonderful week.

Markos Villa is one of the best villas we have stayed in. It was spacious, very well equipped and the views are fantastic. Although it was very private, the local village is a two minute walk, and has two tavernas and a mini market. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Almirida is a ten minute drive and has a great beach lined with cafes and tavernas. You will need a car. I thoroughly recommend this villa!

We had a wonderful holiday at Markos villa, Drapanos. The villa was very clean and tidy on our arrival and we had a lovely meal waiting for us on our arrival, after a long day, it was much appreciated. The pool was cleaned regularly and the views from the villa were breathtaking. We would recommend a trip to the inland Lake. A wonderful opportunity to swim in clear, warm water and a chance to do some kyaking which we had never done before - a great experience! There were three tavernas within walking distance, we tried two and both were very nice. A shop also within walking distance which was convenient. We would recommend a car to see more of the island. Almirida was lovely, again for swimming in the clear, safe water. Thank you once again.
